The Story
Sue and Grant Alexander began gathering Kiwis over 30 years ago, they've even built a dedicated shelf in their home to house them all. Kinoo decided it was time to let them see the limelight. We've chosen 6 Kiwis from the 200+ collection for the 'Rare Birds of New Zealand Kiwi Collection' card set... Each one collected from a different part of New Zealand. These cards are an 'ode to the kiwi', both bird and human. They are the result of multiple collaborations and the realisation of a long time dream. There is a Kiwi Collection poster too.
Kiwis are endemic to New Zealand, where five unique species constitute the family Apterygidae (The North Island Brown Kiwi, Apteryx Mantelli, and the Okarito Brown Kiwi, Apteryx Rowi are on the IUCN Red List of endangered species. The Great Spotted Kiwi, Apteryx Haastii; Little Spotted Kiwi, Apteryx Owenii; and Tokoeka Kiwi, Apteryx Australis; are all considered vulnerable.)
A person who calls New Zealand home is also known as a Kiwi. Celebrate one of the most unique endangered birds on the planet.
